Important News & Resources

We are entering ALLERGY season!

Parents, as the weather gets warmer and we near Spring, your students may begin to have more allergy symptoms. Things like runny noses, sore throats, slight cough, and itchy or watery eyes are common. (En español)

If your child has clear or light yellow nasal drainage with no fever, they are fine to come to school. The same goes for a sore throat, if their throat is a little sore and they have some congestion with no fever, it's likely related to allergies.

If you notice your child having these symptoms, it would be a good idea to talk to their pediatrician about which children's allergy medicine might be most helpful!

For parents of children with ASTHMA, please
make sure that the clinic has an inhaler
and please consult your pediatrician about whether allergy medicine would be beneficial.

Attention PWCS Parents:

All preschool, kindergarten, and new to the county students are required to submit a Virginia School Entrance Health (Physical) Form and immunization record completed by a licensed provider prior to the first day of school. School entrance physicals must be completed within one year of entry. Students who were previously enrolled in a PWCS preschool program, through Headstart or child find, are also required to submit an updated physical that falls within the dates above. This is in accordance with the Virginia Department of Education school entrance requirements and is a requirement for both in-person and virtual schooling within the county. These records must be provided to the school nurse prior to beginning school. Blank copies of the School Entrance Health form (and other related forms) that can be provided to your child's health care provider are linked below.
