Kerrydale Elementary School is the only school in Virginia to receive The Visible Learning+ School Award, and one of only 7 in the United States. This award recognizes the progress and achievement of schools that have made the commitment to use Visible Learning principles in their daily work, and systematically embed them at all levels within the school.

Visible Learning is a concept developed by John Hattie that helps students take responsibility for their learning. Teachers make the how, what, and why of learning more transparent to students. Students are committed and open to learning and seek feedback for learning. Teachers become evaluators of their own teaching. Teachers and students work together to attain the goal, provide feedback, and determine whether the student has learned.

According to the 2021-22 Virginia School Quality Profile, Kerrydale Elementary's reading performance was 74% for all students (grades 3-5), 1% above the State performance of 73%. Kerrydale's Math performance was 74% for all students (grades 3-5), surpassing the division at 67% and the State at 66%.
